New Big Love got hold on his first drumset quite late, at the age of 17. Jet he was able to advance very quickly in his skills, having been drumming on everything else available all the while before, thus shaping his mind and body for music. He soon played his first concerts on the countryside, where he partly grew up. In 1994 he joined the music scene in Berlin and became active as live and studio drummer. Collaborations with musicians from all over the world and from various stylistic backgrounds further expanded his musical horizon. In the mid-90's, nbL took up electronic music production. He released two vinyl ep's and a vinyl maxi under the name "Balogun System" in the beginning of the new millenium. By 2003 he invented the concept of "drum-jockeying",replacing a whole band by triggering keyboards, bass and others instruments from an electronic drumset which was combined with acoustic drums on which he simultaniously played the beats. To be be more flexible, New Big Love altered his setup and replaced the drums by a combination of hardware synthesizers, samplers and effects. He exclusively creates his music with this setup by now, not using any computers, to achieve a unique live-vibe which cannot be accomplished when using software programs. New Big Love very much likes to expand his artistic territory, taking up photography and video editing and combining others artistic disciplines with music.
